Old Iron Works Days was this past weekend at Maramec Spring Park, six miles southeast of St. James. Craftsmen demonstrated skills of the 1800’s era. Displays included antique tools, apple head dolls, basket making, beekeeping, blacksmiths, bonnets, butter making, chair caning, children’s shoes, cornhusk dolls, crocheting, felting, glasswork, handmade wooden tools, hardanger, herbs, kettlekorn, music, needlepoint, painted dolls, pottery, quilting, rag rugs, ropemaking, sorghum molasses being made, spinning, stained glass, storytelling, treenware making, wagon wheel weaving, weaving, woodworking and wool dyeing. There was singing and dancing.
