Rolla Police are investigating an incident that RPD Chief Mark Kearse characterizes as “unusual,” after receiving a report of a woman unconscious in a creek with no pants Wednesday evening.
Kearse said medical crews were able to get a response from the woman before she was transported by ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center. She does not appear to have any serious injuries.
The mystery for police is how the woman came to be in the creek, unconscious and partially clothed.
According to Kearse, the woman’s boyfriend was with her and removed her from the creek when police arrived at the creek bed off of 10th Street near Ber Juan Park. Another woman is believed to have been with the couple before police arrived.
“It appears that all three people are highly intoxicated,” Kearse said.
Detectives believe there is a chance that no crime has been committed, and the woman may have found herself in the creek because of her intoxicated condition, but Kearse says they want to be sure nothing more serious happened.
Detectives did not expect to have any answers until today because they said the woman was unable to speak Wednesday.
