Many hearts were broken when Rev. Carl Eugene Young departed this life on Feb. 20, 2012. He left this life bound for his heavenly home where he will join his family and friends who have gone on before him.

Carl was born to Ernest and Addie Young on Nov. 10, 1927 in Maples. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two sisters, Vera Dean Young and Virginia Roberts.

With a true servant’s heart, he was the pastor of several Southern Baptist churches including Enon, Round Pond, Dry Fork, Broadway, Rock Springs, Turtle, Mt. Zion, Blessed Hope and Ellis Prairie. He also owned a wholesale poultry business and farmed near Lenox.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Rosa; one son, Mark; two daughters, Brenda Rickard and husband, Charles of Lenox, and Rhonda Tomnitz and husband, James of Republic; one grandson, James Tomnitz and wife, Frances of Republic; two great-grandsons, Mason and Cooper Tomnitz as well as numerous other family, friends and loved ones.

Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Nixon and Rev. Norman Cartwright officiating. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mike Gorman, Leslie “Butch” Koerber, Gary Gorman, Roger Martin, Jimmy Roberts, Stanley Ritz, Bob Kinder and Roger Kinder.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Rock Springs Baptist Church or Concord Cemetery.
