Fidelity Communications is offering a number of scholarships to graduating seniors, including a $2,500 scholarship and five $500 scholarships.
A $2,500 scholarship is being offered through Fidelity from the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS).
The FRS, in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA), seeks to sustain and enhance the quality of life throughout rural America by advancing an understanding of rural telecommunications issues. Through its various programs and initiatives, the Foundation strongly supports the continuing education of rural youth.
Scholarship applications are available online at www.frs.org.
In 2012, FRS will award 30 of the $2,500 scholarships to rural high school seniors, including one per geographic region of the NTCA membership. Missouri is in Region 8.
The remaining awards will be distributed proportionate to the number of applications received per region. FRS will fund $2,000 of each scholarship, with Fidelity providing a $500 match for students in its service areas.
Applicants must:
• Be a graduating high school senior, a U.S. citizen and a Fidelity customer.
• Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
• Have at least a C grade point average (GPA). FRS scholarships will be awarded to deserving students whose academic credentials fall within an average to above-average range.
• Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation.
Although the applications are due to the FRS by March 1, each application must be signed by an officer of Fidelity Communications. All applications must be completed and submitted to Fidelity Communications by Feb. 15. Fidelity will sign all applications and send them to the FRS.
All applications should be sent to the following address: Fidelity Communications, Attn: Craig Montgomery, 64 N. Clark St., Sullivan, Mo., 63080.
Fidelity offers $500 PRIMO Scholarships
Five $500 scholarships are being offered through Fidelity Communications from PRIMO (Public Relations Independent Marketing Organization).
The organization, founded in 1992, consists of marketing and public relations employees of independent telecommunications companies across the Midwest.
Applications are available at the counselor’s offices at local high schools and online at www.primomkt.com.
Although the applications must be submitted to Fidelity’s offices, Fidelity does not choose the five winners. Fidelity will select the top three applications and then send them in for consideration to the PRIMO Scholarship committee.
The PRIMO Scholarship committee will review the top three scholarship applications from all member companies. Once the committee selects the winners, they will notify Fidelity, which will alert any winners in its service area.
Any undergraduate student with a parent or guardian who currently has Fidelity as a service provider is eligible for this scholarship. Preference is given to students choosing marketing, public relations, or a telecommunications-related field.
All applications must be completed and submitted to Fidelity by March 23. Students can drop off or mail applications to Fidelity Communications PRIMO Scholarship, Attn: Craig Montgomery, 64 N. Clark, Sullivan, Mo., 63080. Fidelity will forward the top two applications to PRIMO by April 6.
For more information on any of these scholarships, contact Craig Montgomery, Public Relations manager, Fidelity Communications, at craig.montgomery@fidelitycommunications.com or call 573-468-1294.
