Students in Rolla Public Schools have been busy, partnering with the Rotary Club for a dictionary project at Truman Elementary, naming the Superstar Bulldogs at Rolla High, the RHS FCCLA and Rolla High FFA attending prestigious events, RHS Band students and boosters working to raise money for their Florida trip, and the Drama Department performing "David and Lisa."

Schools, businesses and students were busy over the month of October, donating to a variety of worth causes or proclaiming Constitution Week in Rolla.

Voters in the St. James School District passed a $3.7 million bond issue for improvements to Lucy Wortham James Elementary School in Tuesday’s only election in Phelps County.

The Rolla High School Band had a successful marching competition season, although the band’s annual Route 66 Marching Band Festival was canceled because of the condition of Rolla High School’s football field following heavy rains.

Newburg School Board members received a detailed report concerning the district’s performance on the Missouri Assessment Program scores Tuesday night.

Newburg schools received good news Tuesday night — a mostly positive report on last year’s financial audit.
