It’s the same affliction that has infected our politicians.  They believe that if we don’t change our ways and pay huge taxes to support their outrageous demands, we’ll all be extinct within a generation.

No change is forthcoming any time soon with the structure of the University of Missouri (UM) Board of Curators.
That is because Gov. Matt Blunt on Wednesday vetoed Senate Bill 873, which would have made the ninth voting member of the board a student representative if Missouri loses a congressional seat in the 2010 census.

While the subject of this article is golf, the real significance attached to the story is that money raised at the upcoming Ken Lanning Junior Golf Tournament helps to underwrite an annual college scholarship for a deserving young man or woman from Phelps County.

Summertime is my favorite time of the year!
The summer heat brings us all out of our winter shells to enjoy the outdoors.  There is always something going on in the community for families to participate in at little to no cost.

There are many benefits to riding a bicycle.  In order to get the most benefit out of riding, safety and comfort are keys to the enjoyment. 
Safe cycling starts with always wearing a helmet. Some states and municipalities require helmets while others do not.  The state of Missouri does not have such a law.  However, just because there is no law, does not mean everyone should forgo wearing a helmet.

As it did with me, I am sure the headline on Page 1 of the Monday, July 7, 2008, edition of the Rolla Daily News did more than catch your attention.
I am talking about the one that read “S&T team shares Nobel Peace Prize.”
