STJ returns the favor to, 8-1.

The St. James High School softball team turned the tables on Belle Friday.

After falling to Belle in the New Haven Tournament the previous week, St. James evened the score last Friday with an 8-1 non-conference victory at Nelson Hart Park.

St. James went 2-0 last week to improve to 4-2. On Tuesday, Aug. 26 St. James whipped Vienna 9-3.

On Friday the game was tied at 1-1 after the first inning. St. James then got two runs in the bottom of the third inning, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth.

St. James got a balanced attack, with sophomore Devin Fuhring going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI; sophomore Mackenzie Ketcherside had a two-run single; senior Ashlee Marlatt was 2-for-2 with two runs scored; senior Alexis Uffmann had a hit and scored three runs, and senior Skyla Risner had a hit.

Senior Abby Ray went the distance in the pitching circle for St. James, allowing just four hits and one walk while fanning five.

St. James 9, Vienna 3
The Lady Tigers were never in danger against the Vienna Lady Eagles. St. James scored two runs in the third inning, two in the fifth and pulled away with a five-run sixth.
Vienna got its three runs in the seventh.

Fuhring belted a two-run home run and added an RBI single for the Lady Tigers.
Also for St. James, Marlatt went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and two runs scored; Uffmann had two doubles and a run scored; Ray went 2-for-3 with two RBI and senior Lindsay Seams was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Ray was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings.
