  • The 35th Annual Retiree Appreciation Days event is slated to kick off at 8 a.m., Sept. 5 on post.
    The Retiree Appreciation Days are held to provide retirees and their families with information, services and assistance concerning their personal affairs, benefits, privileges, rights and entitlements.
    The events begin with a golf tournament and luncheon at Piney Valley Golf Course, and later that day, the retirement and retreat ceremony is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m., Sept. 5 at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza.
    Retired Master Sgt. Casey Morris Jr. will be recognized as the Fort Leonard Wood Retiree of the Year at the dinner, scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m., Sept. 5 in the Engineer Regimental Room of the John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex.
    At 9 a.m., Sept. 6 all are welcome to Abrams Theater to hear an informative and beneficial presentation from scheduled guest speakers, Col. Andrew Herbst, Fort Leonard Wood garrison commander, and Col. Peter Nielsen, General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital commander.
    The annual health and benefits fair opens at 10 a.m., Sept. 6 at Nutter Field House. Hospital personnel will be available to provide health and wellness screenings and to answer health-related questions. Various civilian and military agencies and post activities will also be there to provide an update of retiree privileges and benefits as well as new programs.
