First reading of the fiscal year 2015 city budget will take place, along with a public hearing, tonight.
The Rolla City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., delayed a day because of Labor Day, in the council chambers at Rolla City Hall.
The council’s finance/audit committee has reviewed the budget and the whole council went over the document in a workshop last week. Now, the public will have a chance to comment.
The budget as presented by City Administrator John Butz predicts total revenues of $28,713,355 and expenditures of $28,459,757, leaving $253,598. That will leave an ending balance across all funds of $10,333,166.
In other business or discussion:
• The council will consider a resolution authorizing Butz to sign a letter engaging the services of Gilmore Bell, a legal consulting firm that is helping the city on the Rolla West and Forum Plaza projects.
• The final reading of an ordinance allowing a conditional use permit for a massage therapy business in a residential neighborhood will be heard.
• Also heard will be the final reading of an ordinance to rezone 2101 Old St. James from C-3 to R-3 zoning to allow construction of townhouses if the owner, Debra Shantz Hart, can obtain state tax credits.
• The council will consider a motion to authorize sale of a pickup truck on GovDeals.com for the fire department.
• A bid for an email server will be considered.
• Also to be considered is a bid for an industrial paper shredder.
• Real estate will be the topic of the closed session after the regular meeting.
