Lady Tigers knock off Salem on Tuesday.

The St. James High School volleyball team equaled its victory total from all of last season by defeating Salem 11-25, 25-11, 25-16 on the road Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers, now 1-1, opened its season on Monday with a home loss to Steelville 25-8, 25-16.

On Tuesday freshman Mackenzie Rodgers had 16 successful serves and five aces while sophomore Kenzie Guese had 14 successful serves.

“Our serves were key,” said St. James head coach Julie Guese. Mackenzie Rodgers stood out. We also had some good attacks from (sophomore) Isabella Riccetti and (senior) Britney Youngs.

Against Steelville on Monday junior Hannah Keeney and Youngs each had three kills for St. James while Mackenzie Guese had seven successful serves.

St. James is scheduled to host Rolla in another non-conference match on Tuesday, with the junior varsity contest to begin at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity match to follow.
