This incident took place on Maries County Road 302 just outside of Vienna.  Members of the Maries County Sheriff's Office responded to the call and conducted the investigation on scene.
According a probable cause statement, Hagan and the victim had been drinking whiskey together the night of the alleged assault, when Hagan confronted the victim about "hitting on his girlfriend" while Hagan was in jail.
Hagan approached the victim from behind while he was doing dishes and proceeded to stab him in the back and cut his throat. Hagen then fled the scene of the crime.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Jefferson City where he underwent surgery and remains in care. The victim is in stable condition.
Hagan was located and arrested by the St. James Police Department after receiving information that he was staying at Finn's Motel in St. James.
St. James Police Chief Ron Jones said the arrest followed a short investigation.
"We had received information that Hagan was staying at Finn's Motel in St. James, we conducted a short investigation and were able to apprehend the suspect," Jones said.
Hagan is currently on parole and he is being held in the Maries County Jail on a $250,000 bond. He faces charges of first degree assault, serious physical harm, and armed criminal action.
