  • These days, there is no shortage of television programs that focus on the world of hunting.
Via cable TV or the Internet, one can tune in to watch hunters tracking down big bears in the mountains or stomping woods, looking to bring home a trophy buck.
However, for those who can't make it to the Colorado Rockies or the backwoods of Vermont, there is a new show that hopes to highlight regional hunting. It is called "Outdoor Vigilantes" and is the brainchild of longtime friends and law enforcement officers Kody Lucas and Terry Montgomery.
"We're just good old boys doing what we do best," said Edgar Springs native Kody Lucas. "This has been our dream to have our own show."
"Outdoor Vigilantes" will premiere on local cable TV network Fidelity 6 at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3.
"This is a local hunting show," said Lucas. "We want to highlight all kinds of hunting. That could mean turkey season or deer season. If it can be hunted legally then that is what we are going to show."
The half-hour program is professionally filmed and produced. Both Lucas and Montgomery hunted and were videographers for MVP Outdoors, a hunting and fishing booking agency for world class hunts and adventures.
Lucas told the Daily News that he and Montgomery began purchasing high-end camera equipment about  three years ago because they knew that they would need to have footage when they were ready to go into a full length program.
"We knew that we wanted this to be professionally produced. This is the real deal," said Lucas.
He added that in this inaugural season the show will highlight hunting whitetail deer in Missouri, Kansas Illinois and Kentucky, wild turkey in Missouri and Kansas, as well as wild hogs in Texas and Arkansas.
The stars of the program will include Lucas' wife, Rachel, and their five children. "It's going to be a fun-filled action-packed show that includes a lot of family, friends and kids hunting and fishing and passing on our hunting and outdoor heritage," he said.
"Outdoor Vigilantes" isn't stopping with just a TV program. The crew has started its own line of deer minerals and come this fall will have its own line of deer grunt calls.
"We are also working on our own signature series line of turkey calls which we hope to have available this coming spring," Lucas said.  For more information, visit www.outdoorvigilantes.com.
