Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a homemade explosive device while searching for a fugitive Saturday evening at a residence south of Laquey, according to authorities.
Sheriff Ron Long said the search for wanted fugitive Vernon Dale Parker Jr. led investigators to an address on Shawnee Road in southwest Pulaski County where the explosive device was found.
Explosive Ordinance Disposal technicians from Fort Leonard Wood then secured and took possession of the explosive device.
The explosive device was then transported to a secured site, at which time it was detonated, confirming it was a homemade bomb.
A stolen firearm was also found at the scene.
Three subjects were arrested at the scene and Long said that three additional arrests are expected in the near future regarding this incident.
Parker still remains at large as law enforcement authorities continue to search for him.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department will be releasing more information about Parker this week.
