Fuhring named MVP of final Licking Shootout session of summer.

The Licking Shootout's final basketball session of the summer was held in Rolla and St. James over the weekend, and the St. James Lady Tigers and Keokuk, Iowa topped perhaps the summer’s most talented field, which included teams from six states.

In the three-day bracket tournament finals, St. James defeated Piasa, Ill. 63-56 while Keokuk got past St. Louis Notre Dame 46-37.

In the junior varsity bracket finals, St. Louis Notre Dame defeated St. James 46-32.

Devin Fuhring, a sophomore forward from St. James, was named the session’s most valuable player.

Also named to the All-Tournament Team were St. James senior guard Ashlee Marlatt; Salem senior Savannah Hanning, and Cuba junior Hannah Mitchell.

The Licking Shootout provides high school, junior high and middle school age girls an opportunity for basketball and volleyball competition in a summer team-camp setting.
