  • Two Rolla men are behind bars after being charged in connection with a residential burglary late last month that occurred while the victim was sleeping.
    According to the Rolla Police Department, Lazaro Molina Jr., 29, and Richard Sanders, 40, both of Rolla, were arrested July 3 on the charges of first-degree burglary and stealing a motor vehicle.
    The police received a report June 29 of a burglary that occurred in the 100 block of Southbrook Drive.
    Police say the suspects “forced entry (in) to the victim’s residence while she was sleeping and took multiple items including her vehicle.”
    The victim was unaware of the incident until she woke up the next morning, according to police.
    The victim was unharmed.
    During the course of an investigation, the victim’s vehicle, which was unattended, was located and recovered on the following day. Additional items also were recovered.
    Molina and Sanders were both placed in the Phelps County Jail with a bail of $100,000 each.
