  • St. James woman dies in motorcycle crash

  • A St. James woman died Thursday after the motorcycle she was riding on was struck by a truck north of St. James, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

  • A St. James woman died Thursday after the motorcycle she was riding on was struck by a truck north of St. James, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
    Linda D. Morrow, 53, was killed when a 2001 GMC utility vehicle driven by Derek S. Robertson, 27, of Rolla, made a left and turned into the path of a 2006 Harley-Davidson driven by Gary L. Morrow, 59, also of St. James. Linda Morrow was a passenger on the motorcycle.
    Gary Morrow suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center for treatment.
    The GMC was traveling westbound on Highway 68, one-half mile north of St. James, around 4:14 p.m. when the crash occurred. The motorcycle was traveling eastbound at the time.
    Both Linda and Gary Morrow were wearing helmets, according to the patrol.
    Linda Morrow was pronounced dead at the scene by Phelps County Deputy Coroner Lenox Jones at 4:50 p.m. The patrol report stated Linda Morrow's body was taken to Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
    There was extensive damage to the motorcycle and minor damage to the GMC.
    This is the fourth traffic fatality in June in the patrol’s Troop I area, which covers Phelps, Maries, Dent, Pulaski, Crawford and Laclede counties. This is the 10th traffic fatality for the Troop I area this year.
    This is the third traffic fatality involving a motorcycle this month in the Troop I area.
    Dr. Kevin Brewer, 62, of Rolla, was killed in a motorcycle accident June 1 near Edgar Springs. There also was a fatal motorcycle accident in Laclede County June 3. Both motorcycle operators killed were wearing helmets, according to the patrol.
    The other fatal crash involved an ATV in Laclede County June 14.
    There also was an 11-year-old boy killed in an ATV accident on private property in Dent County June 14, but the patrol doesn't count that has a traffic-related fatality.
