  • This past weekend, Hutcheson Ford and the surrounding community helped Light it Up Blue for Autism Speaks during its “$6k in a Day” test-driving fundraiser.
This event was the latest Drive 4 Ur Community program organized by Hutcheson Ford, an idea started by Ford Motor Company which offers charity donations in exchange for test-drives at your local dealership.
For every community member who arrived at Hutcheson Ford to test-drive on Saturday, June 21st, Ford Motor Company generously donated $20 to the St. Louis branch of Autism Speaks.
There are many people in our community who live within the autism spectrum, and keeping the funds local was a must for the Hutcheson Ford team.
Autism Speaks has become the “leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families” (AutismSpeaks.org).
This year’s fundraiser was inspired by Cindy Wiggins, a local Autism Speaks representative who has worked tirelessly to support her autistic son, Chris.
Because of her efforts, all $4k of the money raised will be given to the local branch of Autism Speak s for research and family support in Missouri.
“We always try to pay it forward,” said Kathleen Frazier, Hutcheson Ford’s Internet Director. “It’s really important to us that, as a recognizable business in St. James, we continue to do our best to support those around us.”
Hutcheson Ford would like to extend its thanks to the many charitable businesses and individuals who helped make our fundraiser a success, including Kent Jewelry ($125 Donation) and the St. James Marketplace Café ($200 Donation).
In addition, we would like to thank the St. James McDonald’s, St. James Pizza Hut, Tacony Manufacturing, Three Squirrels Winery, Wenwood Winery, Glik’s of Rolla, Donna’s Salon, Leo Cardetti Flags, the Tri-County Humane Society, Rolla Wal-Mart, Results Radio, and Goodyear Tires for their many gift bag donations and raffle prizes.
Hutcheson Ford is proud to continue its tradition of community engagement.
Earlier this year, the dealership hosted a fundraising event for the 2014 St. James Project Graduation which raised over $1600 and a “Drive 4 UR Community” event for the Central Missouri Food Bank and Newburg Buddy Pack Program which resulted in over $2,800, and they are already planning ways to benefit our school district in the future.
