  • Patrol’s 98th Recruit Class to graduate June 27

  • A total of 34 Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, including three that will be assigned to the Troop I area, will graduate from the patrol's Law Enforcement Academy this Friday, June 27.

  • A total of 34 Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, including three that will be assigned to the Troop I area, will graduate from the patrol's Law Enforcement Academy this Friday, June 27.
    The ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. on the south lawn of the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.
    The three graduates who will be assigned to the Troop I region, which covers Phelps, Maries, Pulaski, Crawford, Dent and Laclede counties, are as follows:
    • Roberto A. Rizo, of Rolla, whose assigned region is Phelps/Maries counties,
    • Gregory T. Hackett, of Springfield, Missouri, whose assigned region is Pulaski/Maries counties, and
    • Grant A. Ayres, of Jefferson City, whose assigned region will be Crawford County.
    The 98th Recruit Class reported to the academy Jan. 2. The new troopers will report for duty in their assigned troops July 14. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
    Gov. Jay Nixon will give the keynote address during the graduation ceremony. The Honorable Mary Rhodes Russell, of the Supreme Court of Missouri, will administer the oath of office to the new troopers.
    Dean Gil Kennon, vice president of college affairs for Mineral Area College, will be present to confer an associate’s of applied science degree to 13 of the new troopers based on their course work at the academy.
