  • A St. Louis man was seriously injured after being ejected from a jon boat that crashed into several large rocks on the Big Piney River in Pulaski County.

  • A St. Louis man was seriously injured after being ejected from a jon boat that crashed into several large rocks on the Big Piney River in Pulaski County.
    Mark J. Wagoner, 23, of St. Louis, was transported by an ambulance to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla for treatment.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s water division, the jon boat was traveling downstream on the river, about one-half mile east of St. Robert when it struck the rocks.
    Tozh R. Smith, 28, of Crocker, who was operating the vessel, and two passengers, Wagoner and Katrina M. Connour, 22, of Crocker, were all thrown into the river after the impact.
    Both Smith and Connour refused medical attention. Smith suffered moderate injuries and Connour suffered minor injuries. All three were not wearing life jackets, the patrol report stated.
    There was moderate damage to the boat. The crash occurred around 6:40 p.m.
