Ozark Actors Theatre (OAT) will open its 27th season this Thursday with its first show, William Shakespeare's “The Comedy of Errors.”
Ozark Actors Theatre (OAT) will open its 27th season this Thursday with its first show, William Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.”
Director Jason Cannon has adapted the play for the Cedar Street Playhouse stage.
This will be the first full-length production for OAT of a play by Shakespeare, so Cannon has put a musical wild-west twist to the farce masterpiece, a madcap adventure with two sets of identical twins causing confusion and chaos.
OAT has assembled a cast from New York, Chicago, Arkansas and St. Louis, as well as from Rolla, St. James, Steelville and Cuba, Missouri, for a musical version that will feature songs made popular by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams along with some new works.
Performances will take place at the Cedar Street Playhouse, 701 N. Cedar St., Rolla, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between June 19 and June 29.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for active military or groups of 15-plus and $12 for college students and children 17 and under. Groups of 15 or more need to call the box office for group sales.
There are also family four-packs available for matinee performances.

The box office is open Mondays through Fridays from 1-5 p.m. except during matinee performances and two hours prior to every performance.
The performances are being sponsored by Brewer Science.
Ozark Actors Theatre is one of two professional theaters in out-state Missouri and operates under a contract with Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States.
Other upcoming performances in OAT’s Season 27: Mistaken Identities include the musical parable, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” which runs Thursday through Sundays from July 10-20 and “The Drowsy Chaperone” which runs Thursday through Sundays from July 31 to Aug. 10.
There also will be a summer cabaret series, with performances scheduled for June 23, July 14 and Aug. 4. The popular annual talent showcase “Follies” also returns July 26 this year.
