Bulldog 16-U team sweeps pair from Waynesville; 18-U squad swept by West Plains.

The Rolla Bulldog Age 16-U summer baseball team opened its season on Wednesday by winning a doubleheader from the Waynesville Warriors on the FCNB Field at the Bray Sports Complex.

Rolla got three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the first game 9-8 and then rolled to a 10-1 victory in the nightcap.

In the first game the Bulldogs got their game-winning, seventh-inning rally when Sam Remillard was hit by a pitch followed by an RBI double from Wyatt Kinder. Kinder later scored on a wild pitch and Zach Studdard walked. A bloop single by Aaron Davis scored Studdard for the game-winner.

Justin Evans was the winning pitcher in relief.

In the second game most of Rolla’s offense came on walks issued by Waynesville pitching. Rolla coach Karl Odenwald estimated Waynesville walked 15-to-20 batters in the nightcap.

Studdard was the winning pitcher for Rolla in the second game.

Rolla’s 18-U summer baseball team opened its season on Tuesday by home by dropping a doubleheader to West Plains, 16-8 and 9-0.
