  • For the ninth year in a row, area motorcycle riders are invited to contribute to USO programs for troops and enjoy a scenic, 37-mile ride along historic Route 66 from Lebanon to downtown Waynesville, Mo., during the annual USO Support Motorcycle Ride, which starts at noon June 21.
Registration is $15 per motorcycle and begins at 10 a.m. from the Ozark Harley-Davidson located at 2300 Evergreen Parkway, in Lebanon, Mo.
The ride is scheduled to conclude with a check presentation to the Fort Leonard Wood USO at the downtown Waynesville Square.
“100 percent of the money raised for this event will go to the Fort Leonard Wood USO.” Mike Moeller, this year’s ride chairman, said. “The USO uses the money to support the needs of the troops and fosters troop morale by purchasing items such as food, electronics, or care packages.”
Moeller said he takes pride in the event because each person who participates gives service members here locally the ability to contact their families, catch up on events, or just spend time with friends in the Fort Leonard Wood USO’s relaxed environment.
In 2013, approximately 120 riders supported the USO motorcycle event and raised $1,760.50. This year event organizers hope to exceed that amount.
The event, which is open to the public, is sponsored by Ozark area motorcyclists including the Ozark Mountain Chapter of Harley Owners Group® Lebanon, the Freedom Of Road Riders® Local 28 Waynesville, Local 7 Lebanon and St. Robert Chapter of American Legion Riders.
