  • Slew of RHS girls' soccer players are honored

  • On all-conference, all-district, all-region squads.

  • Several members of the Rolla High School girls’ soccer team were named to the all-conference, all-district and all-region teams, it was announced this week.
    Named to the All-Ozark Conference First Team for the Lady Bulldogs were sophomore keeper Katie Hudson; junior defenders London Clift and Meggy Ross; sophomore midfielder Emma Laney, and senior forward Nicole Howard.
    Nicole Howard was named the All-Ozark Conference Player of the Year while RHS head coach Mike Howard was selected Coach of the Year. RHS was the OC undefeated league champion for 2014.
    The Lady Bulldogs finished 20-5 overall and 9-0 in league play, being ranked in the Missouri Class 2 state poll throughout the regular season. Rolla’s season ended with a 2-1 loss to Jefferson City Helias in the Missouri Class 2 District 10 Tournament championship game. Helias is still alive in the Class 2 State Tournament, playing Kearney Friday in state semifinal action.
    RHS players on the all-league second team are freshman defender Michelle Kean, freshman midfielder Morgan Gabriele, senior midfielder Amy Jernigan and freshman forward Addy Brow.
    Lady Bulldog honorable mention selections are junior midfielder Natalie Craun and senior midfielder Aysen Malone.
    Lady Bulldog players selected to the Missouri All-Class 2 District 10 First Team were Hudson, Clift, Ross and N. Howard. Howard was selected the district’s Offensive Player of the Year while Hudson shared district Keeper of the Year honors with Bolivar’s Kaylie Rothdiener.
    Rolla all-district second team selections were Kean, Laney and Brow.
    The Lady Bulldogs had five players selected to the Missouri Class 2 All-Southwest/Central Region Team. They are Hudson, Clift, Ross, Laney and Howard.
    Nicole Howard scored 36 goals and 12 assists this season to top 100 goals for her career, just the third Lady Bulldog to accomplish that.
    Also for RHS Brow scored 15 goals and had 16 assists while Gabriele had five goals and 10 assists; Laney two goals and nine assists.
    As a team RHS posted 15 shutouts - 14 by Hudson. Hudson had a 0.61 goals-against average. The Bulldogs averaged 3.0 goals per game and allowed 0.5.
