  • Miss Route 66 crowned

  • Seventeen- year-old Morgan Snider was crowned this year's Miss Route 66 during the festivities Friday night at Summerfest.

  • Seventeen- year-old Morgan Snider was crowned this year's Miss Route 66 during the festivities Friday night at Summerfest.
    Snider, who will be a senior this coming year at Rolla High School, was one of three contestants competing in this year's pageant.
    Joining her on stage were 17-year-old Lori Brookshire and 20-year -old Kaylee Dawn Knackstedt, Brookshire was crowned Miss Summerfest, and Knackstedt was named Miss Congenialty.
    Snider will receive a $500 scholarship and  Brookshire will be granted a $250 scholorship. Brewer Science, Centurylink and Metro Business College sponsored these scholorships.
    The three young ladies began practicing  for the pageant in late April. In this final event of the pageant, the contestants were judged by a three-person panel during a variety of segments that included formal wear, talent, fashion and answering a question that related to Route 66 in Missouri.
    In addition, contestants  won other awards:
    Snider - Attendance award, Best Interview award and Director's Choice.
    Brookshire - Achievement award.
    Knackstedt - Miss Photogenic, Outstanding Accomplishment.
