Shatters own school record in Class 3 800-meter run finals.

An all-state performance by sophomore Parker Fane in the girls’ 800-meter run highlighted the weekend for the St. James High School track team at the Missouri Class 3 Track and Field Championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

Fane made it to the medal stand by finishing fifth in the 800, shattering her own school-record time at 2:18.59.

The Lady Tiger standout was able to maintain race plans despite an extremely fast pace set early on in the 800 final.

“The first lap was kind of fast; more than it has been lately,” Fane said. “I knew where the other girls were going to go. It was a matter of making the grade at the end.”

And if she was going to make the medal stand, Fane knew she was going to have to run a school-record time.

“It was going to have to go sub-2:20,” she said. “To get 2:18...that’s super exciting.”
Fane was the only member of the St. James squad to make it to the finals.

Freshman Devin Fuhring finished 10th overall in the girls’ 200-meter dash with a time of :26.60 and was 13th overall in the girls’ 100-meter dash at :12.99.

The Lady Tiger 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Sarah Walls, Fuhring, senior Hannah Perona and Fane placed 16th overall with a time of 4:16.04.

The St. James boys’ 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Dawson Lynch, junior Richard Byfield, junior Jake Money and senior Addison Conway was 15th overall at 3:30.41. The Tiger boys’ 4x100-meter relay team of junior Nate Campbell, senior Cody Birkner, senior Jamal Sconiers and Conway was disqualified due to exchange violations.
