A Rolla man was killed Sunday morning after being ejected from a motorcycle he was driving west of Edgar Springs.
Dr. Kevin W. Brewer, 62, was driving a 2014 Yamaha Bolt westbound on County Road 6380 at Route M when he failed to negotiate a hard-right curve at the intersection, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The patrol stated the motorcycle crossed the center of the road and then went off the left side of Route M on the county road. That’s when Brewer was ejected from the motorcycle, a patrol incident report stated.
The motorcycle came to a rest in a ditch and sustained moderate damage.
The crash occurred around 11:22 a.m. The patrol stated Brewer was wearing a helmet.
Phelps County Coroner Larry Swinfard pronounced Brewer dead at 12:33 p.m. Brewer was a doctor with Phelps County Regional Medical Center. The hospital website states he practiced internal medicine at the Bond Clinic and graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1982.
This is the seventh fatality reported in the patrol’s Troop I area, which covers Phelps, Crawford, Dent, Maries, Pulaski and Laclede counties.
