  • The Rolla High School track team qualified to sectional competition in seven boys’ events and two girls’ events during last Saturday’s Missouri Class 4 District 5 Meet, held at Jefferson City High School.
The top four finishers in each event advance to the Class 4 Sectional Meet, to be held Saturday at Eldon, starting at 11 a.m.
And the top four placers from sectionals qualify for the Missouri Class 4 Track and Field Championships, to be held May 30-31 at Dwight Reed Stadium on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
The Bulldog boys won three sectional events.
Moving on to sectionals this week for the RHS boys are Aaron Froehlich, who won the triple jump at 45-2 3/4; Austin Parks, who won the 400-meter dash at :49.95; the 4x400-meter relay team of Hunter Short, Jordan Kaden, Parks and James Kosbar, which won at 3:24.07; James Kosbar, who was third in the 1,600-meter run at 4:29.39; the 4x800-meter relay team of Kosbar, Short, Liam Jennings and Will Crutcher that placed third at 8:16.91; the 4x200-meter team of Short, Kaden, Parks and Froehlich which finished third at 1:31.12, and Chase Bartle, fourth in the shot put at 46-2.
Advancing for the Lady Bulldogs were Addy Brow in the 1,600-meter run at 5:22.39 and the 4x800-meter relay team of Sophia Holmes, Shannon McCaul, Madison Collier and Joanna Callier, which finished fourth at 10:04.90.
“It was a good meet for us overall,” said RHS head coach Don Knapp. “We actually won three boys’ events outright. The boys ran their fastest relay times of the year in all three longer relays. The girls’ 4x800 relay took about 14 seconds off their best time and Addy Brow ran a really strong 1,600 to qualify.
“We had kids in lots of other events that had their season best jumpers, times, throws and efforts. Some advanced to section, some did not. But they did their best and gave great effort.”
