  • Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) will honor local cancer survivors with a National Cancer Survivors Day event scheduled for Sunday, June 1.
The event will take place at pavilions 1-5 at Rolla Lions Club Park from 1-4 p.m. All area cancer survivors and their families are encouraged to attend.
The event’s theme for this year is “Greatest Life on Earth,” and PCRMC will provide a picnic-style lunch, a gift for each survivor and family-oriented activities.
“Everyone is invited to come and celebrate our local cancer survivors and their families and let them know that they are an inspiration to us all,” said Rhonda Teague, RN, PCRMC Bond Clinic infusion coordinator.
National Cancer Survivors Day “is a day to honor our cancer survivors for their strength and courage, and we will do that with joy, hope, compassion, faith, love and laughter,” Teague said.
The Rolla event will include door prizes, food, music, inspirational speakers, photo opportunities and encouragement from local oncologists, health care teams and volunteers.
“The day will be about having fun and celebrating life to its fullest,” said Teague. “We are excited to bring this worthwhile cause and event to our local community.”
