Moves on from Missouri Section 3 Tourney.
Senior Colin Hayes of the St. James High School golf team has advanced to the Missouri Class 3 State Tournament.
Hayes was one of the individual state qualifiers from Monday’s Class 3 Section 3 Tournament, held at Cassville Golf Club.
The top two teams, plus the other low 12 individual scores plus ties, moved on from the sectional meet to the Class 3 State Tournament, to be held next Monday at Fremont Hills Country Club in Springfield.
Hayes shot 15-over-par 87, which was the state qualifying cutoff score.
St. James’ other sectional qualifier, junior Conner Bauman, failed to make it to state, shooting 95.
West Plains and Logan-Rogersville were the two squads to move on to state as full teams. West Plains won with 320 points while Logan-Rogersville was second at 333.
West Plains’ Ben Charles was the individual meet medalist, shooting 71, seven strokes better than runner-up Robert Mahaffey, Jr. of Logan-Rogersville.
