  • Fire destroys Newburg mobile home Sunday

  • A Saturday morning fire at 14112 State Route W destroyed an unoccupied mobile home. According to Rolla Rural Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Jordan Light, at around 7:30 a.m. a passerby noticed smoke coming out of the residence and called 911.

    According to Rolla Rural Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Jordan Light, at around 7:30 a.m. a passerby noticed smoke coming out of the residence and called 911.
    He said that the trailer was owned by Calvin Bunton, however Robert Waters of Newburg was living there. No one was home at the time of the fire.
    Rolla Rural Fire Protection District firefighters responded and were assisted by the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District. Light told the Daily News that fire crews had the fire under control around 8:20 a.m.
    "The cause of the fire is undetermined but is not thought to be suspicious," said Light. "It did cause a total loss to the mobile home."
