  • A Pulaski County jury deliberated for a little over an hour Wednesday before finding a Dixon man guilty on child pornography charges.
Joshua Warner, 34, was found guilty of two counts of the Class B felony of possession of child pornography after jury members heard two days of evidence.
Warner will continue to be held in custody on bond until a sentencing hearing takes place July 9.
Special investigator Wayne Becker of the Dent County Sheriff’s Office and the South Central Missouri Computer Crime Task Force was able to locate and download video files from Warner’s laptop computer in 2011 after a search warrant was served at Warner’s Dixon home, according to the Phelps County prosecutor’s office, which was assigned as a special prosecutor in this case.
“My office was appointed to prosecute this case when the Pulaski County prosecuting attorney’s office discovered a conflict,” said Phelps County Prosecutor John Beger.
Later, Special Agent James Holdman with the Department of Homeland Security interviewed Warner at his home where Warner admitted he found child pornography on his laptop, but that someone else must have downloaded the files.
Forensic analysis of the laptop directly contradicted Warner’s story, according to the prosecutor’s office.
“Becker and Holdman are top notch investigators and they both did an excellent job on this case,” said Phelps County Assistant Prosecutor Brendon Fox. “Because of them another pedophile has been brought to justice.”
Phelps County Prosecutor John Beger said he was pleased with the result.
“Mr. Fox is a computer guy and was able to work with S.I. Becker to effectively explain some highly technical concepts for the jury which helped get the conviction,” said Beger.
