Wildcats post 14-0 non-league victory.
The Newburg High School baseball team was shut out by Cuba 14-0 in non-conference play on Tuesday.
The Cuba Wildcats scored a run in the top of the first inning, and it stayed 1-0 for the first three frames. Cuba then plated six runs in the fourth to break it open and tacked on seven more in the sixth.
Cuba outhit Newburg 12-5 and took advantage of three Wolf errors.
Alan Yelton and Caleb Wofford each went 2-for-3 for the Wolves while Joey Brinkley added a hit.
Tristan Hoffman was the losing pitcher for the Wolves working five innings and allowing seven runs on five hits and six walks while fanning four. Troy Constable finished up for Newburg on the mound.
The Wolves, now 3-10, are scheduled to play at Stoutland today in Frisco League action, starting at 6 p.m.
