  • The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team stayed on a red-hot pace, winning its eighth straight game - including the fifth shutout in a row - in a 4-0 Ozark Conference victory over Lebanon Tuesday at the Bray Sports Complex.
Rolla, tied for fifth in the latest Missouri Class 2 state poll, improves to 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the OC.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Bulldogs did all the scoring after intermission.
Freshman Addy Brow opened the scoring two minutes into the second half off a pass from senior Nicole Howard.
Howard added the second goal on a pass from junior Meggy Ross. Howard would score again on an assist from junior London Clift.
Brow ended the scoring off a Howard assist with 12 minutes remaining.
Sophomore Katie Hudson got the shutout in goal.
“We haven’t had half of our starting lineup at practice since Wednesday (of last week), so we were a bit rusty to say the least,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “We came out in the second half and got right after it, which was nice to see.
“Lebanon came out with a good game plan and gave us fits the first half. The girls were able to regroup at half and played much better.”
Rolla also won the junior varsity game in shutout fashion, 6-0.
Amber Walters got the hat trick, with three goals, for the Rolla jayvee squad, now 7-2, while Sierra LeClaire, Sam Turner and Marissa Hill each had one goal. Assists came from Morgan Phenix, Caroline Victor and LeClaire.
Calista McCormick was in goal for the Rolla jayvee team.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to make the long trek to Joplin for a conference game today. Joplin will bring a 13-3 overall record into that game.
“The trip to Joplin is always a tough match for us,” Mike Howard said. “They seem to be having some success this season, so we will need to play better.”
Also, Rolla’s conference home game against Camdenton, rained out last week, has been rescheduled for May 13 at the Bray Sports Complex, with the jayvee game starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity game to follow.
Because of that, the Lady Bulldogs’ home game against district rival Jefferson City Helias has been moved from May 13 to Thursday, May 15, with the jayvee-varsity doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. at the Bray Sports Complex.
