Boys take first place, girls fourth in Waynesville Invitational.

It was a stellar day for the Rolla Junior High School eighth-grade track team on Monday, as the boys’ team finished first and the girls’ team was fourth at the Waynesville Invitational.

The Rolla boys had seven event victories, including a school record in the long jump by Davis Buhr at 19-7.

Nick Janke had a hand in four first places for the Bullpups.

Janke won the 400-meter dash and the high jump and also ran legs on the winning 4x100 meter relay, along with Buhr, Jonathan Reese and Caleb Turner, and the 4x400-meter relay, along with Reese, Jacob Grooms and Turner.

Other first places for Rolla include Grooms in the 1,600-meter run and Tristen O’Neal in the discus.

Rolla second places came from Turner in the pole vault and Willis Bolyard in the discus. Bullpup third places came from Buhr in the 100-meter dash, Grooms in the 800-meter run, Brandon Burris in the 1,600-meter run, O’Neal in the shot put and Turner in the 400-meter dash.
For the Lady Bullpups the 4x200-meter relay team of Allie Harman, Emma Weinbaum, Riley Maynard and Ryleigh Grommet won.

Rolla third places came from Braden Gruben in the long jump, Grommet in the high jump, Maynard in the 200-meter dash and Krista Hilmes in the 1,600-meter run.
