The Phelps County Health Department will hold a health and nutrition program clinic for women, infants, and children (WIC) today, Thursday, May 1, at the St. James Caring Center in the triplex next to the alternative school at 114 West James Blvd., No. 3. People should call to schedule an appointment.
The health department will be closed Thursday, May 8, for Truman’s birthday holiday and Monday, May 26, for the Memorial Day holiday.
In addition to the WIC clinic, the health department will offer the following services during the month of May every Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis:
- Immunizations. A previous immunization record is requested.
- Blood pressure checks.
- Blood sugar screenings via finger stick. A $5 fee to cover the cost of supplies is requested.
- Applying for a temporary Medicaid card.
- Printing certified copies of Missouri birth and death certificates. The department is online with the Bureau of Vital Records in Jefferson City. The department also has information on how to obtain a birth or death record from another state. The fee for a Missouri birth certificate is $15 per copy. Death certificates are $13 for the first copy and $10 for each additional copy of the same record ordered at the same time.
