No. 5 Lady Bulldogs improve to 12-2 overall, 5-0 in OC.

The Rolla and Waynesville high school athletic teams have had some epic battles in their long rivalry, with unexpected upsets a regular occurrence.
Tuesday night’s girls’ soccer game was not one of them.

The host Rolla Lady Bulldogs scored four minutes into the game and their stout defense assured that would be plenty, as RHS went on to roll over the short-handed Waynesville Lady Tigers 5-0 in Ozark Conference action at the Bray Sports Complex.

Rolla, tied for fifth in the current Missouri Class 2 state poll, improves to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

Waynesville was without some of its key varsity players due to injury.
Senior forward Nicole Howard took a punt from sophomore keeper Katie Hudson and scored four minutes in to give Rolla the early advantage.

Lady Bulldog freshman Morgan Gabriele scored a header off a serve from freshman Addy Brow with four minutes remaining in the half to make it 2-0 at intermission.

Rolla tallied three goals in the first eight minutes of the second half to ice things. Junior London Clift, junior Natalie Craun and Brow got the goals, with Howard getting two of the assists and Clift the other.

Hudson recorded the Lady Bulldogs’ ninth shutout of the season.

“It is always a tough game when you play Waynesville,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “They are missing some players right now due to injury, so the score is a little misleading.”

Rolla won the junior varsity game 4-1. Amber Walters had three goals for the Rolla jayvee squad, now 6-2, while Caroline Victor scored the other.

The Lady Bulldogs are slated to host Camdenton today in another OC game, with the jayvee contest beginning at 5 p.m. at the Bray Sports Complex and the varsity game to follow.
