Logan-Rogersville wins team crown.

With second- and third-place finishes in singles competition and a second-place in doubles, the Rolla High School boys’ tennis team finished second as a team in the eight-school field Wednesday at the West Plains Tournament.

Logan-Rogersville won the team title with 31 points while Rolla was second with 24 and Salem third with 19.

In Flight 1 of singles competition Rolla senior Nathan Graham finished third. Graham defeated Salem’s Gabe Marton 8-1 in the first round and then lost to Springfield Hillcrest’s Dallas Feenester 8-2. In the third-place match the Rolla player defeated West Plains’ Brian Roan 8-1.

Rolla senior Aidan Gelles placed second in Singles Flight 2. Gelles beat Mountain View Liberty’s Amber Reese 8-0 and Hillcrest’s Sam Hallan 8-1 to advance to the finals. In the title match Gelles lost to Rogersville’s Jack Gold 8-3.

The Rolla team of senior Parker Nesbitt and junior Jarod Rieth finished fifth in Doubles Flight 1. Nesbitt-Rieth lost to Josh Plank-Jackson Keene of Salem 8-1 in the first round and then beat Houston’s Lucas Kelley-Sarah Kelley 8-4. In the fifth-place match Nesbitt-Rieth topped Liberty’s Kammie Cooley-Brenden Burks 8-5.

In Doubles Flight 2 the RHS duo of Ben Hushaw-Priyank Madria finished second. Hushaw-Madria topped Liberty’s T.J. Cone-Gabby Curtis 8-5 and Forsyth’s Collin Stauffer-Josh Bonevery 8-5 to advance to the finals, where they lost to Rogersville’s Curtis Bradley-Justin Bridges 9-8 (7-5).

Rolla is scheduled to compete in the Lebanon JV Tourney on Friday while the varsity participates in the Waynesville Tournament on Saturday.

Rolla 6, Houston 3
On Tuesday the Bulldogs defeated Houston 6-3 in a dual meet at the Ber Juan Park tennis courts.

Rolla swept the singles matches and before using junior varsity players in the doubles events.

Bulldog singles winners were Graham, Gelles, Nesbitt, Rieth, Hushaw and Madria.

RHS improved to 3-3 in dual-meet competition.
