  • Area business owners are invited to a free seminar next week in Rolla to learn how to best utilize social media and the Internet to better reach their customers.
    The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, at 8:30 a.m. the Comfort Suites, 1650 Old Wire Outer Road, Rolla.
    The seminar should last about 45 minutes, according to Trace Deaton, regional digital director with Gatehouse Media, who is helping to organize the event.
    “You will be much more digital-savvy when you leave,” Deaton said.
    Tim Stansky, digital specialist, will be the guest speaker. The free workshop is designed to help small- and medium-sized business owners grow their online presence and reach their audience.
    Deaton said the Internet and social media have emerged as important tools for businesses and that they cannot be discounted when trying to market a business.
    Small business owners who attend will learn how to compete with large businesses with their online presence within their budget and reach their audiences.
    Search engine optimization, pay per clicks and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Yelp! and how they can best utilize those tools with the help of the Rolla Daily News, Waynesville Daily Guide and St. James Leader-Journal will be topics at this seminar.
