Wolves beaten by league rival Plato, 9-3.
The Newburg High School baseball team was beaten by Frisco League rival Plato 9-3 on Tuesday.
Newburg falls to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Each team had nine hits but the Plato Eagles were able to take advantage of six Newburg errors.
Plato took control by scoring four runs in each of the bottom of the second and third innings. Plato added a ninth run in the sixth.
Newburg got two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Tristan Hoffman was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI while Tristan Kattich was 2-for-4 with a run scored; Caleb Wofford had a hit and RBI; Joey Brinkley, Troy Constable and Dusten Reagan each had a hit, and Hunter Rigsby scored a run.
Senior lefty Alan Yelton was the starting and losing pitcher for Newburg, working five innings and allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks while fanning seven. Reagan finished up the final inning on the mound.
The Newburg Wolves are scheduled to play at Richland in another league game Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.
