Marty wins Rd. 2 of Hauck Brothers Series.

Marty Hauck won Round 2 of this season’s Battle of the Brothers.

Hauck, who is head coach of the St. James High School baseball team, again went head-to-head with his brother, St. Clair head coach Rob Hauck, on Thursday at Nelson Hart Park.

Rob won the first meeting of the year when St. Clair clipped St. James 5-4 in the season-opener March 24.

However, on Thursday the Tigers gave Marty a series split, winning 11-4 in Four Rivers Conference play.

St. James improved to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference. St. Clair fell to 3-3 and 1-1.

The game was tied at one after the first inning and the St. Clair Bulldogs took a 2-1 advantage in the top of the third frame.

However, St. James took the edge for good with three runs in the bottom of the third. The Tigers added two runs in the fifth inning and pulled away with a five-run sixth. St. Clair added two runs in the seventh.

St. James outhit St. Clair 15-8 and the Tigers took advantage of four St. Clair errors.

Zack Russell and Justin Ray each had three hits for the Tigers while Drew Lahman had a double, single and three RBI; Austin Gibson had a double, single and RBI; Adam Goad had a double and scored a run; Evan Grayson had two hits and scored a run; Nathan Strait had a hit and scored twice; Jesse Hays had a hit and scored a run, and Cody Miller scored three runs.

Ray went the distance on the mound, allowing two earned runs while walking two and fanning three.

Salem 3, St. James 2
On Wednesday at Nelson Hart Park St. James saw a five-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2, non-league loss to Salem.

Salem got single runs in the top of the third, fifth and seventh innings. St. James got a solo run in the bottom of the fourth and scored a run in the bottom of the seventh before falling a run short.

Strait had a double and scored a run while Hays had a hit, RBI and run scored, and Ray, Russell, Grayson and Lahman each had a hit.
Brenn Bartz started the game on the mound for St. James while Miller finished up.

St. James was scheduled to play a league game at Pacific Thursday. On Friday and Saturday St. James is to compete in the Salem Tournament.
