Martin ties for third in Class 4.
The Rolla High School boys’ golf team placed fifth among nine teams in the Class 4 Division of the Missouri State University/Aldo Sebben Relays, held Thursday at the Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course.
In 80-degree, sunny conditions, a total of 20 schools competed in the event, which was separated into three divisions - Class 4, Class 3 and Class 1-2.
Springfield Glendale was the Class 4 team champion with 304 while Rockhurst was runner-up with 311. Rolla shot 328.
In the Class 3 Division Aurora won with 304 while West Plains was second with 307. Lamar won the Class 1-2 Division with 316 - six shots better than runner-up Ava while Mount Vernon was third.
Glendale and Aurora tied for the best overall score, and in a extra hole team playoff the Glendale Falcons claimed the overall team crown.
Ava’s Tristan Haltom was the overall individual medalist with 1-over-par 71 while Lebanon’s Aaron Schumaker, Aurora’s Josh Fronabarger and Lamar’s Caleb Fischer tied for second with 72.
Schumaker was the overall winner of Class 4. Rolla senior Mark Martin shot 75 to tie for third place individually in Class 4, but was beaten in a scorecard playoff.
Also for the Bulldogs Jake Drewniak shot 81, Ben Burris 84, Denver Spurgeon 88 and Josh Fels 98.
The Bulldog golfers are scheduled to host Waynesville Monday at Oak Meadow Country Club, starting at 4 p.m.
