Brow scores game-winning goal.

Freshman Addy Brow scored the game-winning goal eight minutes into overtime off a pass from freshman Morgan Gabriele, lifting the Rolla High School girls’ soccer team to a 2-1 Ozark Conference victory over Springfield Kickapoo on Thursday.

Rolla, ranked No. 7 in the Missouri Class 2 state poll, improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.

Senior Nicole Howard scored the game’s first goal for RHS, off a pass from Brow, seven minutes into the game, which would stand as the halftime score.

The Kickapoo Lady Chiefs tied the score with 20 minutes remaining in regulation, forcing the extra period.

“Great team effort,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “Emma Laney did a nice job of marking up (Kansas University signee) Miriam Melugin; that forced us to move some people around, but the girls adjusted and we were able to limit their chances because of it.

“What an unselfish group of girls we have. Both goals were scored on patterns that we worked on in practice; it was so nice to see. Defensively our back four are playing real well in front of Katie (Hudson).”

Rolla won the junior varsity game 4-1 to improve to 4-1 on the campaign. Amber Walters and Caroline Victor got the goals. Victor also had an assist.

The Lady Bulldogs will make their third consecutive trip to Springfield on Tuesday to take on Hillcrest in OC action, starting at 4:30 p.m.
