  • The Rolla High School baseball team could generate very little offense in its Ozark Conference opener on Monday.
    As in zero hits.
Senior right-hander Austin Knight fired a no-hitter at the Bulldogs on Monday, lifting the Lebanon Yellowjackets to a 12-2 victory in the OC opener for both teams.
Rolla falls to 5-2 overall while Lebanon improves to 4-2.
It was all Lebanon from the start. The Jackets plated two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second, two in the third, two in the fifth and then put things away with a five-run sixth.
Rolla managed single runs in the third and fifth without the benefit of a hit.
The game was stopped after six innings due to the run rule.
Knight fanned six and walked three in his gem.
Rolla senior right-hander Seth Stevens was the starting and losing hurler, working five innings. Junior Brad Lohr pitched the sixth for RHS. Eight of Lebanon’s 12 runs were unearned, as the Bulldogs committed four errors.
Rolla’s run in the third inning came when Stevens walked, moved to second on an error, to third on a wild pitch and, after junior Andy Satulla drew a walk, was balked home.
In the fifth Knight hit RHS junior Jake Stephens with a pitch. Stephens moved around on a passed ball and wild pitch and scored on Satulla’s RBI sacrifice fly.
“They’re definitely a very good team,” RHS head coach Karl Odenwald said of Lebanon. “I was impressed with the way they swung and put the ball in play.
“We had four errors that led to eight unearned runs. In the sixth we had one error that led to five runs. We’re not good enough to let a team like Lebanon have 8-to-10 more at-bats.”
Lebanon also won the junior varsity game 13-0.
Sophomore Sean Young was the losing pitcher for the Rolla jayvee squad.
Freshman Hunter House had the lone Rolla hit of the night for the RHS jayvee squad.
The Bulldogs were scheduled to play at Houston Tuesday. On Thursday RHS is slated to travel to St. Clair for a non-conference game, starting at 4:30 p.m.
