Lady Bulldogs begin Ozark Conference play by blasting Lady Zizzers.

The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team opened its Ozark Conference season in roaring fashion Monday, blasting West Plains 10-0.

The victory improved the Lady Bulldogs’ record to 5-1 overall.

RHS got two goals each from senior Nicole Howard and freshman Allie Pernicka and one each from sophomore Emma Laney, freshman Addy Brow, junior London Clift, freshman Michelle Kean, sophomore Brynn Proffitt and freshman Morgan Phenix.

Assists came from sophomore Caroline Victor, Laney, Brow and Pernicka.
Sophomore Katie Hudson recorded her third shutout in goal.

“It was nice to get some separation and give lots of kids playing time,” said RHS head coach Mike Howard. “We have two very tough games later this week in Union and Visitation.

“When the first state poll comes out later this week, Viz will probably be No. 1 and Union will be somewhere in the top ten, I’m sure. We will find out where we fit into the mix and what we need to do to improve.”

The Rolla junior varsity team improved its record to 2-1 overall by also shutting out West Plains 10-0.

Junior Amber Walters netted four goals for the Rolla jayvee squad while Phenix, Marissa Hill, Kessa Headrick, Aly Melson, Hannah Lenox and Victor each had one.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to host Union in non-league action on Thursday at the Bray Sports Complex, with the jayvee game starting at 5 p.m. and the varsity contest to follow.
