Ackerman, 30, of Lake Park, Ga., has been charged with first-degree drug-trafficking, a Class A felony, according to online court records.

  • A Georgia man is behind bars on a drug-trafficking charge after law enforcement officials found approximately 300 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle he was driving Tuesday morning.
    Brian F. Ackerman, 30, of Lake Park, Ga., has been charged with first-degree drug-trafficking, a Class A felony, according to online court records.
    According to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Ackerman was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy on Interstate 44 around 8:30 a.m. for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Ackerman gave consent for the deputy to search the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.
    During a search of the vehicle, the deputy found about 300 pounds of marijuana “hidden within the contents of the cargo,” according to the sheriff’s department.
    Ackerman was arrested and transported to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department. His bond was set at $500,000.
    The Rolla Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol provided assistance to the sheriff’s department.
