  • An area band has been tapped to open this year's St. Patrick's Day concert in downtown Rolla this Saturday, March 15.
    Moon Jr., an indie alternative rock band from the Rolla and St. James area, will be an opening band, which will play at approximately 2 p.m. at the Rolla Band Shell, located at the corner of Ninth and Oak streets. The concerts are free to attend.
    Mutemath, as headliner, is projected to take the stage at 3:30 p.m. Mutemath is an alternative rock band from New Orleans.
    Moon Jr. is a four-piece band, which includes August Rolufs on lead vocals and guitar, Nathan Showalter on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Jonathan Ammerman on drums and percussion, and Heath Barrack on bass guitar.
    Before Moon Jr. plays Saturday, the band will release its debut album Friday, March 14, at The Locker Room, located at 609 N. Rolla St. in Rolla. The free CD release party begins at 8 p.m., with Moon Jr. taking the stage at 10:30 p.m. in the new addition of The Locker Room. The album release party is free and open to the public.
