  • Belle Mayor Steve Vogt was welcomed to the Meramec Regional Community Foundation (MRCF) meeting Feb. 13 following his recent appointment to the board by Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC).
Vogt was appointed to the foundation board in January as one of three MRPC members on the MRCF board.
Vogt has been a Maries County resident since 1973 and is a retired school teacher. In his retirement, he has retained close ties to the school district by driving a bus and volunteering to escort a group of students on a trip to Washington, D.C., annually.
As mayor of Belle, Vogt serves on the MRPC board and also volunteers his time as a board member for Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District (ORSWMD), where he represents the City of Belle and Maries County. Vogt also serves on the Maries County R-II Schools Foundation Committee.
MRCF is an outgrowth of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) and is an affiliate of Community Foundation of the Ozarks in Springfield, Mo. The regional affiliate was formed in 2010.
Its 12-member board includes representation from each of the eight Meramec counties and from MRPC. Wayne Parry, a Rolla banker, serves as MRCF’s chairman.
Currently, MRCF has 29 funds totaling more than $582,000.
