Pyles comes to Rolla from Boise State.

Missouri S&T volleyball coach Jason Holt announced a new addition to his roster on Tuesday as Jackie Pyles will join the team for the 2014 spring semester and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Her brother Drew was a pitcher on the Miner baseball team from 2009-12.

Pyles, a 5-8, defensive specialist/libero, played for two seasons at Boise State and is from West Bloomfield, Michigan. She played in 25 matches as a reserve defensive specialist and saw action in a total of 55 sets in her two seasons. She recorded one assist, four serves aces and 29 digs as a freshman and sophomore. Her first action for Boise State came against Portland State (Aug. 25) in Seattle at the Northwest Challenge finishing with one assist and career-high six digs.

"Although we were not actively recruiting another defensive specialist for our 2014 roster, since we have an outstanding DS/libero corps, we couldn't pass up on a solid defender with high level Division I experience who fell in our laps" Holt said. "Jackie is an excellent passer, defender and ball control player which will give us even more depth in the back row. We are excited to add another player of such talent to our already deep roster beginning this spring and know that Jackie will be a great addition to our Miner volleyball family."

Pyles, a 2012 graduate of West Bloomfield High School in West Bloomfield, Mich., was a four-year starter on the Lakers' varsity team averaging 3.7 kills, 0.1 blocks, 0.6 aces and 6.8 digs per game as a senior. She helped lead the team to a 6-1 league mark and a second-place finish. The Lakers advanced to the district tournament all four years. She was a three-time All-OAA First Team honoree, honorable mention all-state senior year, three-time OAA All-Star and AVCA Player of the Week once as a senior, two-time team captain, team MVP and "Golden Standard Award" winner.

Pyles was named the Laker of the Year as a senior and she also lettered in softball during her freshman and sophomore years earning two-time all-conference first team, two-time all-region and honorable mention all-state recognition. She was named West Bloomfield High's "Outstanding Female Athlete" for the class of 2012, was named one of Oakland County's Top 25 Volleyball Players to Watch, was a three-time Academic All-State honoree, National Honor Society member and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

She Played club ball for Instant Replay VBC (Select U18) of Farmington Hills, Mich., 2010-12 and Legacy VBC (National U14 and U15) of Rochester Hills, Mich., 2008-09. Pyles was a three-year starter for Instant Replay VBC and her team placed first in the American Division U17 at the 2011 Big South Qualifier in Atlanta, Ga. Her team also participated in the 2011 USAV Junior National Tournament and was also a 2010 Gold Medalist at the AAU Junior Florida Open U18 Beach Volleyball Tournament at Cocoa Beach.
