  • New troopers assigned to patrol Troop I

  • Three men who were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 97th Recruit Class have been assigned to the patrol’s Troop I area, which covers six counties in south central Missouri — Phelps, Pulaski, Maries, Crawford, Dent and Laclede.

  • Three men who were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 97th Recruit Class have been assigned to the patrol’s Troop I area, which covers six counties in south central Missouri — Phelps, Pulaski, Maries, Crawford, Dent and Laclede.
    The newly assigned troopers began training July 1, 2013, at the highway patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City and graduated Dec. 20, 2013.
    The new troopers reported to duty at Troop I headquarters in Rolla Monday and will continue their training under the guidance of their field training officers.
    Trooper Robert L. Stark has been assigned to Zone 1, which patrols Phelps and eastern Maries counties. Stark is a native of House Springs and a 2004 graduate of Northwest High School in Cedar Hill.
    Stark is also a 2012 graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where he earned a bachelor's of science degree in criminal justice. He is married to Jennifer (Rasnic) Stark. His field training officer will be Cpl. Matthew A. Goodson.
    Trooper Charles M. Barclay has been assigned to Zone 5, which patrols Pulaski and western Maries counties. Barclay is a native of Bourbon and completed his studies in 2008 while being homeschooled.
    Barclay also attended East Central College in Union, where he studied heating and air conditioning. He is married to Christine (Pennington) Barclay. His field training officer will be Trooper Douglas W. Pfeifer.
    Trooper Gary S. Sloan has been assigned to Zone 6, which patrols Laclede County. Sloan is a native of Conway and a 2004 graduate of Conway High School. After graduating, Sloan went on to serve in the U.S. Army for eight years, where he attained the rank of sergeant.
    He is married to Kayla (Brockman) Sloan and they have one son, Jaden. His field training officer will be Cpl. J. Clay Marlin.
