  • Once again the St. Louis Cardinal Caravan will make a stop in Rolla it was announced on Tuesday. The caravan will be stopping in Rolla on Jan. 18.
The Cardinals will send out five caravan groups to 18 cities in four states on Jan. 17-20.
The Cardinal Caravan 1 group will be traveling to Springfield on Friday, Jan. 17 then on Saturday, Jan. 18 will move on to Joplin and later Rolla.
The Rolla program is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Rolla High School gym, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Sponsoring the Rolla stop is radio station KTTR-KZNN, a Cardinal affiliate. There will be donation boxes set up, with proceeds going to Rolla High School athletics.
For the third straight year Shelby Miller, a 15-game winner for the Cardinals as a rookie in 2013, is scheduled to make a caravan stop in Rolla. Other players slated to be at the RHS gym on Jan. 18 are right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly, who was perhaps the Cardinals' most effective starter during the stretch run last year, and rookie Kolten Wong, who is projected as the Cardinal starter at second base this season.
Cardinal alumni expected to be on hand are former standout starting pitcher Danny Cox and former utility player Tom Lawless. Scheduled to serve as the emcee is Mike Claiborne of KMOX radio station.
The program will be similar to past years. Following a question/answer session, the Cardinal delegation will sign autographs.
The Cardinals will again be implementing an autograph ticket system at each stop. The first 400 children (ages 15-under) through the door on the day of the event will receive a free autograph ticket, which guarantees one autograph from each current and former player. Due to high demand, autographs will only be available for children age 15-under.
